ISTA Hoosier Educator of the Year

Hilda Kendrick

ISTA Hoosier Educator of the Year

Congratulations to Utica Elementary kindergarten teacher Hilda Kendrick, who has been with the district forty years, for being selected as the 2014 Horace Mann/Indiana State Teachers Association (ISTA) Hoosier Educator of the Year.  Kendrick also serves on the ISTA’s Minority Affairs Committee and has been named our Greater Clark Teacher of the Year twice.

The purpose of the award is to recognize, reward, and promote excellence in teaching and advocacy for the education profession. She was  honored with a $2,500 monetary award provided by Horace Mann Insurance and will now go on as the ISTA’s nominee for the 2015 National Education Association Foundation Award for Teaching Excellence and represent the state Indiana at the Salute to Excellence in Education Gala in Washington, D.C. on February 13, 2015. The NEA Foundation
Award for Teaching Excellence is awarded to an educator with outstanding professional practice who advocates for the profession, engages the community, exhibits professional development leadership, and pays attention to diversity.

Good luck to Hilda Kendrick as she represents our state and Greater Clark County Schools next February!
